Evonne I. Caswell, 69
Evonne Ione Caswell, 69, of Owatonna, died on June 14, 2009 at Cedarview Care Center in Owatonna, following complications from cancer.
Evonne was born on May 5, 1940 in Ellendale, Minn. the daughter of Perry and Marion (Schear) Chadwick. The family moved to Owatonna when Evonne was four years old. She married James A. Caswell on Dec. 7, 1956 in Owatonna. Over the course of Jim’s career with the Minnesota Department of Transportation the couple lived in Owatonna, Red Wing and Austin. Following Jim’s retirement, the couple made their home in Federal Dam, Minn. until 2005 when they returned to Owatonna to be nearer their family. Evonne enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and helping Jim with house projects. Other interests included solving word and jigsaw puzzles, following the Vikings and Twins, reading, bingo, crafts, fishing and teaching others how to fish. She welcomed and acted upon the opportunity to help other people. Evonne especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, James, Owatonna; four sons, Jim, Owatonna, Perry (Sue), Buffalo, Minn., Bob (Theresa), Owatonna, John, Owatonna; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brother, Darrell (Marian) Kubinski, Crocker, Mo.; two sisters, Zona Karsten, Owatonna, Gerri (Kenn) Breamer, Albert Lea and many nieces and nephews.
Evonne was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Dorothy Caswell.
Funeral services will be held at the Owatonna United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2009 with the Reverend Loren Olson officiating. Visitation will be at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Rd., Owatonna) from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 and one hour prior to the services at church on Thursday. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
