RCC softball team gets more awards

More honors mount for the Riverland softball team that took fourth place in the MCAC state tournament and third place in the Region Tournament.

RCC placed right fielder Liz Triplett (.404 average, 29 RBIs) and catcher/outfielder Danielle Lynch (.361 average, 20 RBIs) to the All-Region Tournament team.

Triplett was 7-for-8 in three games with six RBIs, two doubles, and a home run, and Lynch was 5-for-11 with 5 RBIs. Both are freshman.

Laura Meyer (.509 average, 30 runs) and Jill Radke (.479 average, 15 RBIs) were named to the All-Region 13 team after also being named on the All-Division and All-State teams. Meyer, a freshman, finished with a hit in 33 straight games and had on-base percentage of .479, and Radke, a sophomore, had eight doubles and scored 20 runs.

RCC also handed out its team awards, Carmen Smith and Meyer tied for team MVP, and Mandy May, who had 86 assists and 65 putouts at shortstop, won the Golden Glove.
