The Lyle/Pacelli golf teams couldn’t send any golfers to state at the Section 1A meet in Winona Thursday.

Matt Buntje led the L/P boys qualifiers with a 91, and Emily Leif was five strokes from qualifying for state with a 105.

Buntje was in good shape after his first nine holes as he started on the back nine, but shot a 40. In the front nine, he had four three-putt holes and had two hits out of bounds on hole No. 8.

“It’s the first time his driver has failed him all year,” L/P head coach Mark Buntje said. “He had some long putts, but if he played well enough, he could’ve gone to state.”

Alex Brennan shot a 94, but Spencer Holtorf didn’t advance to the Section meet as Buntje was told he actually finished 11th, not 10th the day after the subsection meet.

Abby Leif had a 132 and Jenny Marx had a 122 for the L/P girls.

The Blooming Prairie boys team took second overall with a 344 and Adam Wondra earned a trip to state by shooting an 82. Derek Ressler missed a trip to state and shot an 84.

Hayfield’s Brittany Dahlen advanced to state and was the Section 1A girls medalist with a 94, and Hayfield’s Hanna Volgarino advanced to state with a 98.
