Lyle/Pacelli’s top golfer had the round of his life at the Rebel Invite in Adams Friday.

Matt Buntje shot a 73, which was seven strokes below his previous career best, and he took home the meet medalist after hitting two birdies to finish one over par.

Buntje’s score was a tournament record and he finished 16 strokes over the second place finisher, Southland’s Matt Brietbarth.

“Things were just going his way today,” L/P head coach Mark Buntje said. “He even had one shot hit the trees by the river and roll onto the fairway.”

The L/P girls golf team got their first win of the year, edging out Southland/Grand Meadow 283-308.

Emily Leif was meet medalist with a score of 53 for the Athletics.
