Spring is a time for baseball

Baseball is an American pastime that reaches from Little League fields to high school diamonds to elaborate professional stadiums. It’s a sport cherished by the young and the old, the ones who collect baseball cards and the ones who simply love taking in a game with a hot dog in one hand and a mitt in the other.

Austin has a rich baseball tradition, so it’s fitting that it’s the only planned Minnesota stop for a touted Roberto Clemente exhibit.

This is a great chance for local baseball fans to learn about the Hall of Fame outfielder, who many consider to be one of the best right fielders of all time, rivaling Hank Aaron and Frank Robinson.

The “Beyond Baseball, the Life of Roberto Clemente” exhibit kicked off Monday at the Austin Public Library and runs through June 7.

It’s available for viewing during the library’s regular hours.

We’re lucky to have it.
