Rozella Hansen, 85
Rozella Hansen, 85, of Hollandale, Minn., died on April 10, 2009 at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea.
Rozella was born in Palo Alto, Iowa on Nov. 5, 1923, the daughter of Albert H. and Martha (Gappa) Walz. She graduated from Albert Lea High School. Rozella was married to Kenneth Hansen on Feb 12, 1943 in Texas. Rozella was a member of the Hollandale Conservative Congregational Church in Hollandale. Rozella had worked as a grocery clerk in Hollandale and for many years worked for school District 241 in the cafeteria. She enjoyed decorating cakes and playing cards with her Friday Card Group.
Rozella is survived by her son, Donald (Sue) Hansen, Albert Lea; daughter, Carol (Roger) Young, Billings, Mont.; grandchildren, Ron Hansen, Keri (Robert) O’Brien, Steven (Julie) Young, Patty (Shawn) Ward; great-grandchildren, Sam, Madeline, Eleanor and Brennen; special friend, Irene Jones, Hollandale; brothers, Leo Walz, Illinois, John Walz, Alexandria, Minn., Albert Walz, Rochester, Minn.; sisters, Mary Helen O’Neal, Illinois, Delores Overby, Austin; many nieces and nephews.
Rozella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; sisters, Lillian Sainer and Katherine Halferty; brother, Jerome Walz.
The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel, Albert Lea. Pastor William Bankester will officiate. Interment will be in the Hollandale Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service at the chapel.
