Rose H. Smith, 95
Rose Helen Smith, 95, died peacefully at the Cedar View Care Center in Owatonna on April 19, 2009.
Rose took great pride being a most devoted and faithful wife and mother. She took pleasure in perfecting her bread, roll and pastry baking skills, and her creations were much sought after at church bake sales and by her family in particular. She was honored as Volunteer of the Month by the Austin Daily Herald for lovingly and faithfully tending to the special needs of seniors of Austin’s senior center.
A special thank you is extended to all the nurses and other care takers who loved her and made her stay as comfortable as possible at the Cedar View center during her two years as a resident there. They truly are angels.
Survivors include her children, Marilyn Langeslay, Vadnais Heights, Minn., Allan (Pat) Smith, Owatonna, Minn. Rose was blessed with six grandchildren, Scott (Liann) Smith, Michele (Gerry Bosak) Smith, Peggy (Bruce) Jindra, Jeffrey Smith, Lynn (Mark) Ettl, Cheryl Jameson; 15 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by Merrill, her beloved husband of 58 years; parents, Frank and Anna Plzak; sisters, Ella Plzak and Olive Skaran; brother-in-law, Albert Skaran, all of Austin; grandson, Jeffrey Allan Smith, Stillwater, Minn.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2009 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Steele County Food Shelf (Owatonna), the Mower County food shelf (Austin), or Cedar View Care Center (Owatonna).
