Roderick “Biddy” Oren Morem, 79
Roderick Oren Morem, 79, of Austin, died on April 18, 2009 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Roderick Morem was born on Jan. 3, 1930 to Oren and Gilma Morem in Spring Grove, Minn. He lived and attended elementary school in Harmony, Minn. In 1941 his family moved to Austin where Roderick graduated from Austin High School. Biddy was employed at Geo. A. Hormel for 39 years in the tin shop. He retired in 1986. For the last nine years he enjoyed working full time as a security guard until March 6, 2009 at Hormel.
Roderick is survived by his wife, Dolores Morem of Austin; seven children, Jenny Morem (Roger Diggins) of Austin, Brad (Kathryn) Morem of Scottsdale, Ariz., Melanie (Larry) Janssen of Rose Creek, Minn., Kathy (Mike) Fontana of Scottsdale; Beth (Ed) Lopez of Globe, Ariz., Doug (Katie) Morem of Red Wing, Minn., Lee (Mary) Morem of Blooming Prairie, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Other survivors include: brothers, Charles Morem of Austin, Gary Morem of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oren and Gilma Morem, Austin and older brother, Robert “Bobby” Morem , Scottsdale, Ariz.
The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Austin. Please feel free to come and visit the family prior to the service at 1 p.m. The service will be given by Jon Best.
