Leo W. Wilson, 82
Leo W. Wislon, 82, of Mesa, Ariz. and Clear Lake, Minn., passed away peacefully on April 4, 2009 in Mesa.
He was born April 13, 1926 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester to Fern and Erma Wilson of Taopi, Minn. He married Katherine L. Ulrick on July 28, 1945 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Adams. Leo served his country in the Philippines during World War II with the U.S. Army/Army-Air Corp. Leo retired in 1987 after 40 years as a cereal chemist working for Shellabarger Milling, Robin Hood Flour and International Multifoods throughout the Midwest. Leo was active as a leader in Boy Scouts for 23 years. Starting as a Den Dad, and had several years as Scoutmaster for Troop 62 in Wabasha. Many summer vacations were with the scouts at summer Scout camp in Lake City and later Crow Wing, Minn. Leo received the Scouting Silver Beaver service award. An active lifetime member in both the American Legion Post 50 and worked as Post Commander of VFW Post 4086 in Wabasha.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Katherine; children, Bradley (Beth), Bonnie King, Brian (Julie), Bruce; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glenn; and son, Joseph in infancy.
Private inurnment will be at Fort Snelling Cemetery at a later date. Arragements made by Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Clear Lake.
