Gladys J. Fruth, 96
Gladys J. Fruth, 96, of Grand Meadow, Minn., died on April 8, 2009 at the Grand Meadow Health Care Center where she had resided for approximately nine years.
She was born July 6, 1912 in Grand Meadow to Albert and Helen (Nelson) Peterson and attended Grand Meadow High School where she was a member of the undefeated girls basketball teams of 1929 and 1930. She graduated in 1930. After high school she attended Mankato Business College. On June 15 1937 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Fruth at St. Finbarr Catholic Church in Grand Meadow and to this union six children were born; Larry, Mike, Brian, Mavis, Carol and Judy. Gladys was a homemaker all her life, she enjoyed cooking canning, sewing and her family. She was a member of St. Finbarr Catholic Church and a member of its Rosary Society and Mission Circles.
She is survived by sons, Larry and Brian (Teri) Fruth both of Grand Meadow and Mike (Vicky) Fruth, Rochester; three daughters, Mavis Richardson, Austin, Carol (Jay) Donovan, Rochester and Judy (Howard “Butch”) Douglas, Spring Valley; two sisters, Agnes Olson, Grand Meadow and Ardes Rote, West Minster, Colo., and a sister-in-law, Bette Hedstrom-Peterson; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass for Gladys Fruth will be held at 10:30 Monday, April 13, 2009 at St. Finbar Catholic Church in Grand Meadow. Burial will be in the church Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 5 to 8 P.M. at the St. Finbarr Catholic Church in Grand Meadow and 1hr prior to the service at the church. Hindt Funeral Home Grand Meadow.
