Evangeline Landherr, 90
Evangeline Landherr, 90, of Stacyville, Iowa, passed away April 4, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Evangeline was born Aug. 4, 1918, in Johnsburg, Minn., to Fred and Julia (Smith) Gerber. She grew up on a farm near Johnsburg. On Oct. 14, 1944, she was married to Wilmer Landherr in Johnsburg. She spent her entire married life on the farm west of Stacyville.
Evangeline enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, baking and attending auction sales with Wilmer in her later years. She resided the last years of her life in Marion with her son, Ron and his wife, Audrey.
Evangeline is survived by five sons and five daughters, James, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Ronald (Audrey), Marion, Iowa, Mary Jean (David) Johnson, Dewitt, Iowa, Janet (Dwight, Sr.) Jorgensen, St. Ansgar, Iowa, Kathryn (Wayne) Halvorson, Chatfield, Minn., Thomas (Elaine) Landherr and Harold (Vicki) Landherr, both of Stacyville, Annette Hagen (special friend Dennis Stauffacher), Northwood, Iowa, Ruth (James) Dieterich, Galesburg, Ill. and John (Annette) Landherr, Marshalltown, Iowa; 32 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Armstrong, Fairfax, Va., Helen Noterman, Adams, Mary Brumm, Stacyville, Iowa; two brothers, Adrian (Elaine) Gerber and Roger (Mary) Gerber both of Adams; sisters-in-law, Velma Matheis, Adams, Elizabeth Landherr, LeRoy, Louise Landherr, Austin and Nancy Landherr, Brownsdale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer; son-in-law, Bob Hagen; grandchildren, Michelle Johnson, Mark Jorgensen and Daniel Hagen; two sisters and four brothers who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, Iowa, with the Reverend John Moser officiating. Burial will follow at the Visitation Catholic Cemetery, Stacyville. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Visitation Church, Stacyville. A Rosary service will be at 4:30 p.m. and a prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, is in charge of arrangements.
