An Austin man was arrested late Monday night after assaulting another man in The Ville bar.

The call came in at around 9:41 p.m. According to Austin police reports, the subject, 29, approached a woman the bar, who was with another male subject.

The other man, who was the woman’s fiance, told him to leave her alone and that she was his fiance, to which the subject allegedly said, “not anymore.”

The subject then punched the other man above the right eye, then twice tried to spit on officers after they arrived on the scene and were attempting to take them into custody.

The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and fifth-degree assault. The case was passed on to the county attorney’s office for possible action regarding the attempted spitting on officers.
