The Austin boys tennis team lost its season opener 5-2 at Northfield Tuesday.
The Packers (0-1 overall) were swept in the doubles matches, but their top two singles players, Drew Halvin and John Register, came up with two-set victories.
“For the first match I expected some rust (from Halvin and Register) but they both looked in midseason form,” Austin head coach Thomas Tauchnitz said. “ In doubles we are young and we for several it was there first Varsity experience. We will continue to improve in that area and I’m very proud of the effort that was put forth there.”
