Roger A. Christianson
Roger A. Christianson, 75, of Blaine, Minn., Passed away on March 14, 2009.
He was born on March 4, 1934 on the home farm near Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, to Bennett and Arthina (Kruger) Christianson.
He served in the military, Aug. 1954 until July 1956, in Eight Army Headquarters, Camp Zama, Japan. Roger graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1952. Roger married Joyce Bjoraker on Sept. 15, 1957. They lived in Blaine for over 46 years. He received an Associate of Arts Degree from Austin Junior College June 1957 and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree Dec. 1958. Roger worked at McGladrey, Hansen, Dunn and Co. CPAs in Cedar Rapids, Iowa from December 1958 to January 1962. He worked at Lutheran Brotherhood as the head of the Disbursements Department Jananuary 1962 to December 1963. December 1963 to August 1969, Roger was the Cashiers Department head at Lutheran Brotherhood, which included Disbursements and Cash Receipts. Roger was an Internal Auditor, CIA and CPA, August 1969 to March 1992, at Lutheran Brotherhood, Mpls. He was an excellent professional internal auditor lending expertise including: financial, operational, investigative and computer assistance. He enjoyed traveling with his family on many vacations in Northern Minnesota. He also enjoyed his trips to Alaska and Norway. Roger is remembered as a loving Husband, Dad and Grandpa. Roger found joy in time spent with his family. He will be missed dearly, never forgotten and loved forever.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce; children, Pam (Dan) Meier, Brett (Yunna), Tim (Kim), John, Cheri (Kelly) McQuay; grandchildren, Rachel and Sarah Meier, Joshua and Naomi Christianson, Ashley and Tyler Christianson, James and Roger McQuay; great-grandchild, Faith Meier Smith; sisters, Bernice Schlinger and Pat (Tom) Seavoy; sisters-in-law, Mary, and Vi.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister and grandson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 8211 Red Oak Drive, Mounds View, with visitation half hour before. Visitation will also be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday March 20, at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd, Coon Rapids. Memorials preferred to the Arthritis Foundation.
