Austin police are searching for a suspect allegedly involved in intentionally starting a car fire late Thursday night.
Austin Police and Fire departments were called to a car on fire, a 1997 Dodge Intrepid, in the Plaza Lot next to the B&J Bar at around 10:07 p.m. Thursday.
Witnesses at the scene said a suspicious subject was observed in the area before the fire and that a loud pop was heard. Witnesses also observed a person running from the scene.
According to the police report, a window was broken on the car, and flames were coming from the interior.
Police believe the owner of the vehicle and suspect knew each other.
Police said the subject has been identified, but not located. Police are withholding names of both the owner of the vehicle, a 34-year-old male, and the suspect.
