Lorenz “Larry” John Schieck, 92, died March 4, 2009, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, Minn. 
Lorenz John Schieck was born on April 20, 1916, the son of George and Emilie (Hussong) Schieck in Waltham Township, Mower County, Minn. He was united in marriage to Luella Johnson on Dec. 6, 1941, in Hayfield. The couple lived in Austin and moved to Rochester in 1969, then to Hayfield in 2001. Larry was a carpenter in the Austin and Rochester areas and a member of the Local Carpenters Union. He enjoyed fishing, reading, cards, board games and watching sports.
Larry is survived by his wife, Luella Schieck, Hayfield, Minn.; children, Marcia Christensen, Rochester, Minn., Michael (Lorinda) Schieck, Rochester, Rita (George) Heydt, Hayfield, Sally (Randy) Pettitt, North St. Paul, Dwight Schieck, Hayfield; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Donald (Clarice) Schieck, Park Rapids, Minn., Norman (Donna) Schieck, Austin and Virgil (Verna) Schieck, Austin. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
The funeral service for Lorenz “Larry” John Schieck will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. The family prefers memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church building fund.
