Kevin J. Otterness, 54, of Austin died on March 3, 2009 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Kevin was born the son of Norvin and Phyllis (Saufferer) Otterness in Rochester, Minn. He attended McKinley school in Owatonna. Kevin lived his younger years in Fergus Falls, Faribault, Rochester and later moved to Austin. He worked for Cedar Valley services in Austin doing packaging for Hormel. He recently received a plaque for 25 years of service there. He enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and visiting with people. Kevin was able to travel to California with family members which was a lifelong wish of his. While he lived in Austin, Kevin was responsible for flying the American flag at the home he lived in. He liked to tinker with things to see how they worked. Kevin also enjoyed going on yearly vacations to Camp Friendship.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Norvin and Phyllis Otterness, Owatonna; siblings, Rhonda (Nordean) Hartle, Owatonna; Lynn (Craig) Stern, Marshall, Daniel and Billie Otterness, Sacramento, Calif.; nieces, Jennifer (Jeffery) Hall, Northfield and Sarah Wingrove, Mc Kenzie, Tenn.; nephews, Anthony Hartle, Owatonna, Cheston Otterness, Minneapolis, Colton Otterness, Nevis, Minn. and Anthony Jaramillo, Tucson, Ariz.
Kevin is preceded in death by one brother, Craig Otterness.
Memorial services are set for 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Owatonna with the Reverend Ron Gilthvedt officiating the morning service. A private family burial will take place at forest hill cemetery in the Spring. Friends may greet the family one hour before the time of services at the church on Saturday.
