Eileen O. Minnick, 91
Eileen O. Minnick, 91, of Mangum, Okla., formerly of Austin, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 in Altus, Okla.
She was born July 20, 1917 in Velva, S.D. to Olaf and Ella (Christopherson) Austad. Eileen graduated from Austin High School in 1935. During World War II, Eileen served in the U.S. Navy. On Dec. 30, 1946, she married Foord B. Minnick in Portland, Ore. Eileen worked at Butrey’s as a bookkeeper in the early 1940’s and at Montgomery Ward after the war. In her spare time she enjoyed embroidery, traveling, reading, watching the Twins and Vikings and volunteering at the church.
Eileen is survived by her son, Dean (Joyce) Minnick, Altus, Okla.; daughter, LTC.(R) Diane and Michael Varhola, Springfield, Va.; grandchildren,  Dr. Julie and Bert Hansen, Laurie and Ivan King, Amy Minnick, Lindsey Valentine, Hayley Waters; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Audrey (Bob) Anhorn, Faribault, Minn.; nieces and nephew.
Eileen is preceded in death by her husband, Foord B. Minnick and sister, Lorraine Stuewer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Clasen-Jordan Chapel with the Reverend Ron Barnett officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Friday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and for one hour before the service at the mortuary on Saturday. Memorials may be made to St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
