Dorothy K. Mistretta, 91
Dorothy Koopmans Mistretta of Austin, passed away on Saturday,  March 21, 2009 at the Austin Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 9, 1917 in Richland, Minn. to William and Lydia (Koelle) Koopmans. She graduated from Faribault High School in 1935. She took nurses training from St. Lucas Evangelical Hospital in Faribault and a post graduate course in obstetrics and gynecology from the Chicago Lying In Hospital in Chicago. She married Dr. John N. Mistretta on April 5, 1941 in St. Louis, Mo. and they moved to Austin in 1945.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Bonnie (Steve) Biedermann, Palm Coast, Fla., Bobbie Mistretta (Bud Turner) Barnum, Minn., Pollie Mistretta, Duluth, Minn.,  John Mistretta, Maplewood, Minn.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Amy (Bob) Christoferson, Jefferson City, Mo., brother and  sisters-in-law, Mary Koopmans, Faribault, Minn., Roger (Kathleen) Koopmans, Faribault, nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. John Mistretta, in 1998; brother, Walter Koopmans; and baby sister, Elaine Marian Koopmans.
The memorial service location has been changed to Crane Community Chapel. The service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Crane Community Chapel in Austin with Pastor Einar Unseth and Pastor Ruben Unseth officiating. Pianist will be Monica Mendez. Soloists will be Steve Biedermann and Pastor Ruben Unseth. Violinist will be Bonnie Biedermann. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in Charge of arrangements.
