Dorothy Mae Gartner, 87
Dorothy Mae Gartner, 87, of Austin, died on March 19, 2009 at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin.
She was born Dec. 4, 1921 in Dodge County, Minn. to Lea and Lora (Messenger) Evans.
Dorothy graduated from Austin High School in the Class of 1941. She was married to Martin Gartner on Jan. 29, 1941 at Owatonna, Minn. For 34 years they lived in the Waltham area before returning to Austin in 1990. Dorothy was a member of the Eagle’s Auxiliary and enjoyed playing 500, bingo and the penny slot machines. She loved spending time with her family and friends and having breakfast with her classmates at Jerry’s.
 Dorothy is survived by sons, Robert (Carmen) Gartner, Apple Valley, Minn.,  Thomas and Linda Marie  Gartner, Springfield, Minn.; daughters, Linda Green, Comfrey, Minn.; Nancy Redding, Austin; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Gartner, her parents, Lea and Lora Evans; brother, Robert Evans; grandson, Michael Gartner and son-in-law, Gary Green.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2009 at Clasen-Jordan Chapel with the Reverend Dennis Tamke officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Visitation will be at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. and for one hour before the service on Monday.
Honorary Bearers will be Christina Gartner, Angie Green, Michelle Schroepfer, Jennifer Tolzman, Lori Tolzman and Natalie Wester.
Casket Bearers will be David Gartner, Scott Gartner, Paul Gartner, John Gartner, Chris Gartner and Brian Tolzman.
