Three people were injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle collision, resulting in one vehicle being flipped on its top.
According to the Mower County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at approximately 6 p.m. just outside of Lyle School. Both Lyle Fire Department and First Responders responded.
A 2002 black Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Jihoon Kim, 20, was exiting the parking lot of the school onto Pershing Avenue when it was broadsided by a Cadillac DeVille driven by John Harry King, 63, of Lyle, flipping the Santa Fe on its top.
Kim told deputies that he stopped at the stop sign of the parking lot before pulling out and didn’t see the DeVille until he started to pull out when he then realized he would be hit. The passenger in the car confirmed that the vehicle had stopped.
The DeVille didn’t have a stop sign.
Kim was treated for an injured left arm and collarbone at the scene while King and his wife, Sandra Kay King, 63, were both injured slightly and transported to Austin Medical Center.
The couple’s 3-year-old grandson, who was riding in the back seat, was uninjured.
