In an effort to help control population growth and unwanted kittens, the Mower County Humane Society and Austin Veterinary Clinic are again sponsoring a feline spay/neuter clinic.

The event will be held in March.

According to one of the organizers, Kelly Lutz, “Your house cat or barn cat will be spayed or neutered at discounted prices. Shots, flea/tick/ wormer and other meds or treatments will also be available,” she added.

Feline pet-owners can make an appointment for pets by calling the Austin Veterinary Clinic at 433-5225. “We are accepting reservations from Feb. 14 until the clinic is full,” Lutz said.

Pet porters are required for each cat for surgery recovery.

Controlling the pet population is an ongoing battle waged for the last several years by the Mower County Humane Society wit the assistance of Austin Veterinary Clinic.

“Consider giving the gift of a spay or neuter to a cat,” was the MCHS volunteer’s advice.
