Martin James Hoesing, 53, of Austin, died unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 in Iowa.
Martin was born Feb. 20, 1955 in Sioux City, Iowa to James and Barbara (Beyeler) Hoesing. He grew up in Newcastle, Neb. where he graduated as Valedictorian. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1975 with a BS in Agriculture. He was on the Dean’s List. In 1977 he married Judy Dimmitt in Casper, Wyo. The couple moved to Alvo, Neb. where Martin worked for FmHA. They then moved to Minnesota with FmHA. After leaving FmHA, he worked at Ford Town. Martin was currently working at Iowa select farms for 14 years. In 2002 he won the Presidents Club. Martin was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin.
Survivors include his wife, Judy, Austin; three sons, Jerry, Austin, Brian (Lisa Freese), Austin, Brandon (Jessica Christopherson), Austin; daughter, Tiffany, Austin; grandchild, Maddison, Austin; parents, James and Barbara, Newcastle, Neb.; brothers, Claire (Connie), Bronson, Iowa, Stanley (Sue), Sioux City, Iowa, Father Kenneth, David City, Neb.; sister, Shirley (Steve) Rasmussen, Laurel, Neb.; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by an infant sister, Ruth Ann; and his grandparents.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal and Father Kenneth Hoesing officiating. There will be a 6:30 p.m. wake service on Tuesday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and also one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
