Lee N. Martin, 86 
Lee Norman Martin, 86, of Austin, died on Feb. 20, 2009 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.
Lee was born July 15, 1922 in Austin to Melvin and Eva (Fossey) Martin. Lee served in the United States Navy during World War II. He then worked as a farmer until moving back to Austin in 1962. On March 23, 1974 he was united in marriage to Colleen Boysen. Lee worked at Weyerhaeuser, Elk River Concrete and at St. John’s Lutheran Church, all in Austin. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, and also the custodian for 15 years. Lee was also a member of the Lyle American Legion. He had a witty sense of humor and a desire to always help others.
Survivors include his wife, Colleen Martin, Austin; children, Linda (Bill) Bottema, Isanti, Minn., Marci (Steve) Burton, Austin; step-children, Debra (David) Schmoll, Champlin, Minn., Cathy (Mike) Motl, Blooming Prairie, Minn.; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Helen Palynk, Mason City, Iowa, Andrew Martin, Lyle, Minn.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, David Lee Martin; grandsons, David Philip Martin; step-granddaughter, Laura Fate.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Reverend Robert Stohlmann officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Military rites will be by American Legion Post #105.
The casket bearers will be Bill Bottema Jr., Jon Bottema, Bryan Bottema, Andrew Nims, Andy Burton and John Fossey.
