Chris M. Johnke, 46
Chris Marie Johnke, 46, of Osage, Iowa,passed away on Feb. 13 at St. Marys Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Chris was born Nov. 28 1962 in Gardenia, Calif. to John and Sherry West. She Married Mark Johnke on Dec. 31, 1999, at the Salvation Army in Austin Minnesota. Chris attended high school in Lyle Minnesota and graduated from Austin High School. Chris enjoyed reading, Needle point, cross stitching, cooking, baking, watching NASCAR racing and spending time with her family.
Chris is survived by her husband Mark Johnke, Osage, Iowa; daughter, Katheryn Downs, Geneva, Minn.; son, Brandon (Barb) Downs, Lyle, Minn.; daughter, Shelly Fuller; daughter, Missy; son, Dakota; son, Robert Warren, Chuck Warren; granddaughter, Kaylee; grandson, Isia Hacker, Albert Lea, Minn., James Warren; granddaughter, Sylvia Warren; mother, Sherry Tabor and husband, Everett, Austin; father, John (Maria) West, Valley Springs, Calif.; grandparents Brig. Alfred Gorton, Brig. Thelma (Gorton)Schmidt, Sylvester Schmidt, James West, Christine (West) Webster; sisters, Dawn Bangert, Austin, Donna (Dewayne) Dietrich, Austin, Cathy (John) Bennett, Northwood, Iowa; brother, Tom West, Leesburg, Ga., nieces and nephews, Josh, Jesse, Justin, Nick, Andrea, Sam, Steven, Dillon, Jacob, Patricia; father-in-law, James Johnke and mother-in-law, Ruth Ann Johnke; five, brothers-in-law; five sister-in-laws, many nieces and nephews on the Johnke side.
Memorial Services will be held at the Salvation Army in Austin at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, Major LaVonne Fones will be performing the service, with pot luck to follow at the church afterwards. Feel free to bring a dish to pass if you choose. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and chaplains of the St. Marys Hospital staff for making Chris as comfortable as possible during her transition to home.
