Seven Austin High School students have volunteered to become “members” of the Austin School Board.
The students, who applied and then were selected, meet twice a month before each board meeting — once as a student board and once with school board members Kathy Green and Mary Kleis — to discuss news and issues in their school. Two members will attend each meeting and give a report to the school board.
Participants this semester include: Jerome Green, grade 9; Robert Wahlert, Kelsey Fleming, Miles Edwards and Ben Bachmeier, grade 11; and Jay Wilson and James Thorson, grade 12.
Two students will be present at the next regular school board meeting Monday, March 9.
