William Jones

William Lee “Bill” Jones, age 78, of Grand Meadow, Minn. died at the Northeast Clinic in Rochester, Minn. on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009.
Bill was born March 27, 1930 in Northfield, Minn. to Floyd L. and Olive (Sargeant) Jones. He attended Austin Schools through the 9th grade and on July 3, 1965 he was united in marriage to Judy Babbitt at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Sargeant.
Bill worked for many years as a livestock hauler, for Minnesota Implement in Grand Meadow and later was a self-employed livestock buyer and also provided waste management for area farmers. Bill had a wonderful sense of humor, he enjoyed reading, playing cards, visiting with friends, his horses, goats and his beloved dog, Misty.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, of Grand Meadow; two sons: Jon Paul Jones (fiancee Jackie Renton), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and Jared (Cheryl) Jones, Spring Valley, Minn.; siblings: Betty (Orville) Jensen, Preston, Minn., Jim (Ivadene) Jones, Loveland, Colo., Melvin (Irene) Jones, Cohassat, Minn., Carol (Gary) Lingbeck, Rochester, Minn.; brother-in-law: Roy Schmidt, Grand Meadow; and 32 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for William will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan.13, 2009 at the United Church in Grand Meadow with the Rev. Karen Ashton officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Meadow Cemetery. Friends may call at the United Church in Grand Meadow from 5-8 p.m. on Monday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
