LETTER: Thanks to all who were involved

The Mower County Red Cross extends a huge thank you to the fire, police and sheriff departments for their outstanding performance in responding to the Main Street fire.

We picked up the phone and started ordering food and recruiting trained Red Cross disaster volunteers.  The respite center was open from 4 p.m. on Thursday until 2 p.m. on Friday.  Around the clock we were there to care for the firefighters, police, city and county workers responding to this massive disaster.

We would also like to thank the local businesses who partnered with the Red Cross to serve the displaced family and the emergency response workers: Novedades Cristal, Steve’s Pizza, Hy-Vee and Kenny’s Oak Grill.   We also want to recognize the Salvation Army for their partnership in this response.

A special thank you is extended to our dedicated volunteers, who delivered the Red Cross service on this disaster operation.

We also would like to recognize the financial supporters of the American Red Cross in Mower County. Your direct financial support and donations through the United Way mean the bills are paid, and volunteers are trained and ready to respond.  We are very proud to earn your trust and confidence as we provide aid to your friends and neighbors whenever emergencies arise.
