Jerry C. Mlenar, age 71
Jerry C. Mlenar, 71, died on Jan. 25, at his home.
Jerry was born and grew up in Austin. He graduated from Austin High School. He then joined the U.S. Army and served a tour of duty in Turkey. After his military service he returned to Rochester and worked for many years for the Rochester News Agency. He married Leona Moeykens on July 8, 1960 and they were later divorced. He retired from the news agency due to his health, but drove limousine for the Civic Inn and worked as an usher at the Mayo Civic Center. In 1968 he married Janice Ernst in Edina. He enjoyed playing Softball, Bowling, NASCAR and being with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; daughters, Jodi (Brian) Krueger, Austin, Traci (Erick) Scovill , Dodge Center, Minn.; son, Todd Mlenar, Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren, Jesse and Jacob Krueger, Travis, Trenedy,Tyler, Elaine, Shawna and Marcaisia Mlenar, Jade Scovill and a step-grandson, Talus Scovill; brothers, Michael (Sandra) Mlenar, Rochester And Bruce Mlenar, Austin.
He was preceded in death by one brother and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Memorials are requested to the N.E. Mayo Clinic Dialysis Unit or to the family.
