Betty West

Betty Rose West, age 83, of Austin was received into heaven on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008.
Betty was born Jan. 20, 1925 in Milwaukee, Wis. to Edward H. and Rose M. (Haefer) Boire. Betty graduated from the Washington High School, Milwaukee, Wis. 1943. On Oct. 10, 1946 she was married to Weldon West in Milwaukee and was employed as an administrative assistant.
 The Wests moved to the Brownsdale, Minn. area where she was a volunteer at the Brownsdale Elementary School and she was a member of the Brownsdale study group. Following Weldon’s death Betty moved to Austin. She has been a member of the First Congregational Church, the Senior Citizen Center, Women’s Fellowship at the First Congregational Church and the Austin Medical Center Auxiliary.
 Betty enjoyed playing cards, volunteering and traveling, especially to Hawaii, and was a Barry Manilow fan. Betty’s greatest joy came from spending time with her daughters, their families and her grandsons.
 Betty is survived by her daughters: Joanne (Steve) Rossler, Newton, Iowa, Janet West (Richard Pfaff), Woodinville, Wash.; grandsons: Jordan Rossler, Newton, Iowa, Matthew  Rossler, Newton, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Marion Boire, Ripon, Wis., Mary Jane West, Valentine, Neb.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Weldon West, her parents, a daughter Julie and two brothers Edward and Clayton Boire.
 Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009 at First Congregational Church with the Rev. Levering Reynolds III officiating.  Interment will be in Wild Rose Cemetery in Wild Rose, Wis.  Visitation will be at First Congregational Church on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials.
 Honorary pallbearers will be Joanne O’Brien and Effie Lou Willson.
