The Austin boys hockey team (0-5 overall, 0-3 Big Nine) played close for two periods in a 4-1 loss at John Marshall Tuesday.
Garrett Erstad opened the scoring for the Packers when he put Austin up 1-0 on a first period goal that was assisted by Joe McBeain.
But JM scored twice in the second period and twice in the third period to get the win.
“This was definitely our best game so far,” Austin head coach Tim Peterson said. “They came out hard at it and we just had a couple of defensive zone letdowns in the third period.”
Austin had 21 shots on the night and Aaron Dooley had 35 saves.
