LeRoy couple arrested for bad checks

LEROY — A LeRoy couple was arrested late yesterday afternoon for writing several dishonored checks in the LeRoy area.

Tracy Elsa Prately, 33 and Paul Joseph Atkins, II, 29 were arrested at around 4:30 p.m. Thursday during the execution of a search warrant. According to the Mower County Sheriff’s Office, the two have been accused of writing several dishonored checks over the last month equating to more than $650 between the two of them.

The checks had been dispersed between four businesses in LeRoy according to the report including BP Amoco, Ampried, Travel Lanes bowling alley and K&H Classic Stop convenience store. A fifth report in the Spring Valley area is still under investigation.

Most of the purchases were reported to be for smaller amounts.

Upon searching the home, deputies found the checks the couple had been using.

Two children, home at the time the warrant was executed, have been placed in foster care.
