Dale E. Gallaher, 81
Dale Eugene Gallaher, 81, passed away on Dec. 24, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Dale was born Nov. 19, 1927 near Lansing, Minn. to Glen and Edythe (Benson) Gallaher. The family later moved to Rose Creek, Minn., where he attended Rose Creek School and helped his father farm. Because of his father’s ailing health the family moved to Austin, where Dale graduated from Austin High School in 1945. In 1946 he married Alice Lauritzen. They later divorced. Dale worked for Nate Wiese Conoco, drove truck for Gamble Robinson and Armstrong Truck Lines all through the 1950s. He and his brother, Don, started Austin Indian Sales in 1957. It later changed to Dales Cycles, which he sold in 1968. Motorcycles always played a big part in his life. In 1972 he married Marilyn Jorgenson. She passed away in 1986. Dale retired in 1986 after working more than 40 years at Hormel. Dale was a great friend and a wonderful father and will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his very special friend, Sylvia Satter, Austin; son, Tom (Joni) Gallaher, Austin; daughters, Jean (Tom) Fargusson, Rose Creek, Sue (Mike) Van Hyfte, Dallas, Ga., Sally Gallaher (Nick Zrucky), Mankato; Sylvia’s daughter, Pam Carlson, Albert Lea; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother, Don (Martha) Gallaher; sisters, Lois Holmes, Bronson, Mich., Casey Lakin, Austin; brother-in-law, Ron Jorgenson, Rock Island, Ill.; sister-in-law, Harriet Greeley, Austin; many nieces and nephews and his faithful feline companions, Simba and Molly.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn and brothers-in-law, Ken Holmes and Steve Lakin.
There will be no service. Dale donated his body to the Mayo Clinic. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Mower County Humane Society.
