Duane Huffman, 66
Duane Huffman, 66, of Austin, died at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester on Oct. 1, 2008. He was born Sept. 15, 1942 to Oscar and Agnes (Freiheit) Huffman in Austin, where he grew up and attended school. He married Gloria Williamson on Jan. 15, 1966 in Austin. To this union two sons, Dean and Mike, were born. After a few years Gloria died of cancer. Duane married Marilyn “Mert” Robinson on Aug. 19, 1972 in Austin. They had a daughter, Kim. Someone special Duane took under his wing, Jason, was also like a son. Duane enjoyed his job as machine operator at Elk River Concrete, but in 1991 he retired after 24 years due to rheumatoid arthritis. He loved the outdoors, raccoon hunting, deer hunting and fishing. In his early years Duane was at Chateau Speedway in Lansing every weekend, driving his stock car.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Huffman, Austin; two sons: Dean Huffman and Mike (Annette) Huffman, Austin; daughter, Kim (Nathan) Osmundson, St. Charles; five grandchildren: Amber, Jared, Nick, Austin and Jacob; three sisters: Maxine (Rolland) Brady and Wanita (Gene) Pfeifer, Austin; Viola Deyo, St. Paul; two brothers: Ronald (Barb) Huffman, Roy (Nita) Huffman, Austin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Oscar; first wife, Gloria; brothers: Eldon, Harold, Earl and Wesley; sister, LaVonne Norgaard.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008 at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Pastor Ron Barnett officiating. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.
