Bethel E. “Betty” Shaw, 86
Bethel E. “Betty” Shaw, 86, of Austin, died on Oct. 15, 2008, at Fieldcrest Care Center in Hayfield.
She was born July 22, 1922 to William and Esther (Sperry) Danley in Brownsdale. After growing up in Brownsdale, Betty lived most of her life in Austin. She married Donald O. Shaw on Jan. 6, 1945 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church and she worked at Hormel Foods for more than 38 years. A member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and Women of the Moose, Betty enjoyed cooking, canning, fishing and boating at their summer home in Lake City, Minn. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Donald; two sons: Dennis (Marsha) Shaw, Brian (Lynnae) Shaw, all of Austin; three grandchildren: Emily, Brendan and Justin Shaw; one great-granddaughter, Rylee Shaw; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Darren Shaw; and five brothers:Lyle, Kenneth, Doug, Hugh and Daryl Danley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 17, 2008 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Ron Barnett officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery.
 In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Hormel Institute for Cancer Research at 801 16th Ave. N.E., Austin, MN 55912 and please note “In memory of Betty Shaw.
