Austin High School has named its September Artists of the Month.

Danielle Jondal

According to school staff, Danielle Jondal, daughter of Mary Lou and David Jondal is an “extraordinary, multi-talented young lady. She is successfully engaged in her first art classes but has also been a valuable contributor to Art club and is co-president. She did the mathematics for the Arts Build project at the Ordway last spring and participated in its construction.  Danielle plans to attend a four-year college for Pre-Med and French.”

” Art is not what is there but rather what you see,” Jondal said.

Dana Schroeder

Dana Schroeder, daughter of Darcy and Doran Schroeder is the third senior honoree. She wants to attend a four-year college and is unsure of a major.

“Regardless of her career goals, she hopes to keep art in her life,” staff said. “She was an Artist of the Month honoree last February and has won multiple Art show awards. We are expecting great things from her this year! She is the other co- president of Art Club.”

“I’m very interested in all art mediums and this has caused me to take the majority of AHS art classes. I’m inspired by all the art teachers to do the best I can be,” Schroeder said.

Alicia Weatherly

Alicia Weatherly, daughter of Kim Slezak and Jeff Weatherly, hopes to attend college and have a career in mechanics and art, or perhaps a technical illustrator or designer.  “Alicia has been very active in her art classes and producing a fantastic portfolio in various media,” staff said.

“Some people say music is their life but for me, art is my life,” Weatherly said. “I love art!  I could stay in the art rooms all day and create art.” Teacher Bruce Loeschen confirms she has the self-discipline to stay on task and is a prolific creator.
