Darhld D. Dimmel, 89
Darhld Donald Dimmel, 89, formerly of Austin died on Sept. 2, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa.
He was born on May 19, 1919 to Henry and Ida (Schroeder) Dimmel in rural Waseca, Minn. He married Edna Mae Schneider on Oct. 31, 1939 in Elysian. They made their home in Austin until moving to Bella Vista, Ark. In 2000, they returned to Austin and later moved to Northwood, Iowa. Darhld was employed by Hormel Foods Corp. for 39 years. A lifelong member of Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, he belonged to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Austin where he retained a lifetime membership of American Legion Post 91 and enjoyed golfing.
Survivors include his son, Dr. Donald (Karen) Dimmel, Prescott, Ariz.; daughters, Judith (Larry) Jorgensen, Northwood, Iowa, Daralyn (Mark) Bobbitt, Santa Fe, N.M., Kathryn (Donald) Yous, Austin, Texas; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers: Elmer (Marilyn) Dimmel, Austin, Ross Dimmel, Seattle, Wash., Loren Dimmel, St. Peter, and Earl Dimmel, Faribault; sisters: Myrles (Donald) Ferch, Austin, and Belva Brown, Faribault.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Edna in 2005; brother, Victor; sister, Helen Keep, and his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Austin with the Reverend Jon Bitter officiating. Friends may call one half-hour prior to the service. Worlein Funeral Home in Austin is in charge of arrangements. Interment is at Grandview Cemetery, Austin with military honors by American Legion Post 91. Memorials are preferred to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
