Crystal M. Holmquist, 81
Crystal Mae Holmquist, 81, died on Sept. 20, 2008 surrounded by family.
Crystal Holmquist was born in Ashby, Minn., June 27, 1927. She graduated from Concordia Lutheran College and married Howard on June 13, 1948. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Crystal and Howie moved to Silver Bay, Minn. in 1956 and raised their family there. After Howie’s death, Crystal moved to Austin in 2006 to be closer to family. Her greatest hope is for people to come to know the saving power of God through Jesus Christ. She was involved with Community Bible Study, Alpha, youth ministries, serving those in need, Hefer Project and various Bible Study groups. Crystal’s desire as she participated in all of these was to glorify God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Holmquist; parents, Isaac and Tilla Caroline Evavold; and 11 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two sons: Michael (Carol), Blaine, Minn., Steve (Georgie), Medina, Minn.; three daughters: Susan Patterson, Charlotte, N.C., Carol (Curtis) Simonson, Savage, Minn., Sandy (Kevin) Anderson, Austin; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Bernice (Bing) Olson, Ashby, Minn. and Louise (Dick) Smith, Plymouth, Minn.
Family and friends will be celebrating her life, her love for God, her belief in Jesus and His resurrection power in life and in death at Sychar Lutheran church in Silver Bay. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 27 from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service. Immediately following the service Crystal will be buried next to her beloved husband, Howard Holmquist, at Sawtooth Cemetery near Lax Lake, Minn.
Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008 a memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Free Methodist at 3 p.m. in Austin, where Crystal worshipped since her move to Austin in 2006. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home, Two Harbors, Minn.
