Clara B. Meyer, 80
Clara Bernice Meyer, 80, of Lyle, died on Sept. 14, 2008 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin. She was born July 2, 1928 on the family farm near Osnabrock, N.D., the daughter of Einar and Lily (Monson) Nelson. Baptized and confirmed at Dovre Lutheran Church near Osnabrock, Clara graduated from Osnabrock High School and Dakota Business College in Fargo, N.D. She traveled to Minnesota to work for Hormel Foods in Austin. On Sept. 5, 1948 she married Kenny C. Meyer in Langdon, N.D. They lived and farmed on the Meyer family farm near Lyle for many years. An active member of Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church, a member of Lioness Club and Sons of Norway, Clara enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, dancing, watching her children and grandchildren play sports and visiting with friends and family.
Survivors include her four children: Lonna (Ron) Ellis, Gary (Betty) Meyer, Jeff (Robin) Meyer, all of Lyle, Jill (Jamie) Patterson, rural St. Ansgar, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Betty (Laurel) Thoreson, West Fargo, N.D., and Amy (Arlan) Olson, Milaca; brother: the ReverendPaul (Joann) Nelson, Owatonna; brother-in-law: Clayton (Roseann) Meyer, Austin; many other relatives and friends.
Her husband, parents and a nephew, David Meyer, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008 at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church with Pastor Lydia Mittag and Pastor Paul Nelson officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at the church cemetery with casketbearers Rod Ellis, Chans Meyer, Chad Ellis, Brock Meyer, Jon Olson and Don Meyer. Honorary bearers are Misti Ricki, Brandi Barth, Haley Meyer, Dargan, Dakotah and Dylan Patterson. The organist will be Pam Sampson with soloist, Brad Nelson.
