Lorraine Skifter, 85
Lorraine Skifter, 85, of Grand Meadow died on Aug. 22, 2008 at the Grand Meadow Healthcare Center in Grand Meadow where she had resided since April of this year.
Lorraine was born Aug. 30, 1922 to Willis Drinkall and Verna (Warner) Drinkall in rural Spring Valley. She attended country schools through the eighth grade and on Jan. 18, 1942 she was united in marriage to Ralph Skifter in Austin. To this union eight children were born.
Lorraine was a home maker and she enjoyed camping, traveling, canning and gardening, playing cards, following the Minnesota Twins and Vikings and she especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting activities. She was a life time member of the Root River Antique Historical Power Association, a member of the Knitten and birthday clubs and was a volunteer for Semcac. She also was a member of the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church and the Golden age club.
She is survived by her children, Judy (Richard) Miller, Humboldt, Iowa, James (Marceil) Skifter, Grand Meadow, Jane Threlkeld, LeRoy, Jerry (Karen) Skifter, Grand Meadow, Jay (Deb) Skifter, Grand Meadow, Joe Skifter and Special Friend (Chuck Peterson), Minneapolis, Julie Skifter, Austin and Janet (Robin) Lorenzen, Grand Meadow; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph in 1992 and sister, Wilma Farmer.
Funeral services for Lorraine Skifter will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008 at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church in Grand Meadow, Minn., with the Reverend Ann Siverling officiating. Friends may call from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday Aug. 25, 2008 at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday. Hindt Funeral Home – Grand Meadow. Burial will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery in Rural Grand Meadow.
