Leona Cotter, 95, of Enfield, Conn., died on Aug. 7, 2008.
Born in Oakland, Minn., on July 8, 1913, Leona was the daughter of Leo and Mayme (Cafourek) Cotter. She graduated from Austin High School and the University of Minnesota. She was in the Women’s Army Corp during WW II and later resided in Washington, D.C., while employed by the Office of Intelligence. Following her retirement, she resided in Somers, Conn.
She is survived by sister-in-laws, Adeline Cotter, Fallbrook, Calif. and Grace Cotter, Austin; nieces Marlene Helsene, Fallbrook, Calif., Carole Finnerty, San Diego, Calif., Janice Schmitz, Seattle, Wash., Karen Johnsrud, Clarks Grove, Minn. and Judith Welch Kitchen, Bakersville, N.C.; nephew, Frederick Cotter, Chattanooga, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leonard, Clair, Laverne and Kenneth; nieces, Ruth Marie Cotter and Sandra Nelson; and nephew, Richard Cotter.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Aug. 11, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Residence Chapel in Enfield. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Windsor Locks, Conn.
