Gary P. Erickson, 62
Gary P. Erickson of Owatonna died on Aug. 18, 2008 at his home.
Gary was born Jan. 6, 1946 the son of Lloyd F. and Eleanor E. (McAlister) Erickson in Austin, Minn. Gary attended school in Austin and was a member of the graduating class of 1964 at Austin High School. Gary continued his education at Austin Vocational School in auto mechanics for two years. He was united in marriage to Mary Schlichter on June 13, 1970 at St. Edwards Catholic church in Austin. The couple made their home in Owatonna raising two children. Gary worked for Owatonna Tool Company and for Power Team for 31 years. Later he worked at Alflex in Northfield until he retired in 2006. Gary enjoyed his work as well as his co-workers at OTC and Power Team. He was a member of the Owatonna Eagles, Rochester Golden Eagles Motorcycle Club and the American Motorcycle Association. His life interests include being an avid motorcycle enthusiast with both on and off road bikes, as well as camping, hunting and fishing.
Gary is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary; son, Bradley (Trisha Foster) and Payden Foster; daughter, Julie Erickson all of Owatonna; brother, James (Connie) Erickson, Rochester, Minn.; sisters, Jeanne (Garth) Seavey, Austin, Minn., Sharon (David) Hall, Savage.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian burial is set for Thursday Aug. 21, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna, Minn., with the Reverend Edward Mc Grath officiating. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday Aug. 20, 2008 from 4 – 8 p.m. at Brick – Meger Funeral Home. Their will be a 7:30 p.m. wake service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Friends attending the funeral are encouraged to ride their motorcycles in procession to Sacred Heart Cemetery. The visitation will continue one hour before the funeral liturgy at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to the Owatonna Hospice program.
