Esther A. Severson, 85
Esther Anna Severson, 85, of Baxter died on Aug. 3, 2008 at her home, where she was being cared for by her three daughters.
Esther was born Oct. 16, 1922, the daughter of Peter and Hilda Borgesen in Austin. She went to Austin High School and worked at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin as a dietician aid before her marriage. She was united in marriage to Andrus Severson on Aug. 3, 1940 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She was a stay at home mom and longtime member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Andy and she were married 67 years when he passed away on Jan. 21, 2008. Esther had a number of health problems over the years. She had a beautiful smile, loved to dance and sing, and we loved her very much and will miss her so.
She is survived by her three devoted daughters, Ann (Virg) Lundberg, Pine River, Minn., Terry (Dick) Bakke, Baxter, Minn. and Kimberly (Dwayne) Walker, Pine River; six grandchildren, Rev. Darrin Mitchell, Nisswa, Minn., Nichol VanDorn, Rupert, Idaho, Roberta VanDorn, Escondido, Calif., and Shaina, Jared, and Jacob Walker, Pine River; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Katherine Borgesen.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Andy; four children, Dickie, Andy, Troilee, and Jean Kay; grandson, Tait Bakke; parents; and five siblings, Bud Borgesen, Stanley Borgesen, Judy Renairs, Vickie Eastburn and Shirlee Baumann.
Funeral Services for Esther will be at 12 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin with visitation starting at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
