Esther I. Hellickson, age 100, died Friday morning, Aug. 15, 2008 at her home in Spring Valley, Minn.
Esther was born on July 14, 1908 in Spring Valley to Fred and Agnes (Laging) Lenz. She attended country school through the eighth grade and was united in marriage to Mentor Hellickson on April 29, 1936. Together they farmed near Ostrander until 1941 when they moved to Spring Valley.
Esther was a homemaker and worked as a secretary in her husband’s insurance office for many years.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and then Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening.
Esther is survived by one son: Roger Hellickson, Spring Valley, Minn.; many nieces and nephews an d brother-in-law: Wilbur Brandt.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one brother, Walter; two sisters, Leona Jacobson and Elaine Brandt.
Funeral services for Esther will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with the Rev. Dennis Timmerman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday and one our prior to the services at the church.1908
