Dorothy Elizabeth Schlichter, age 84, of Austin, Minn., died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008 at the Austin Medical Center.
Dorothy was born Aug. 3, 1924 in Lodi Township, Minn. to Joseph and Celestine Schaefer. 
On Sept. 5, 1945 she was united in marriage to Theodore Schlichter at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. 
He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2008. 
Dorothy enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, playing cards and most of all being with her family. 
She enjoyed her mother’s club (Baker’s Dozen) for more than 50 years and volunteering at church. 
Dorothy was a homemaker.
Survivors include her children: Robert (JoAnn) Schlichter, Elk River, Minn., James (Mary Jo) Schlichter, Austin, Minn., Mary Erickson, Owatonna, Minn., Ted Schlichter, Preston, Minn., Steve (Cindy) Schlichter, Austin, Minn., Tom Schlichter, Austin, Minn., Carol Karjala, Hastings, Minn., Eugene (Sue) Schlichter, Anoka, Minn., Linda (Roger) Hahn, Hayfield, Minn., Janet (Scott) Gaboury, Blue Bell, Pa.; 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; siblings:, Margaret Whalen, Austin, Minn., Sy Schaefer, Austin, Minn., Wilfred “Bill” Schaefer, Austin, Minn., Helen (Jack) Sershen, Austin, Minn., Bernard (Pat) Schaefer, Austin, Minn.
In addition to her husband, she is also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Barb Schlichter; sons-in-law, Gary Erickson, Howard Karjala; siblings, Ray Schaefer, Leo Schaefer, Rosemary Danley.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. 
There will also be a 6:30 p.m. wake service on Monday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and also one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.  Interment is scheduled to be held at Calvary Cemetery.
The honorary casket bearers will be Mary Erickson, Carol Karjala, Linda Hahn, Janet Gaboury.  The casket bearers will be Robert Schlichter, James Schlichter, Theodore Schlichter, Steven Schlichter, Thomas Schlichter, Eugene Schlichter.
