Cleone J. Goodwin, 78
Cleone Jeanette Goodwin, 78, of Austin, died on Aug. 27, 2008, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
She was born Feb. 22, 1930 in Austin to Alvin and Evelyn (Swenson) Ulland. She graduated from Austin High School in 1948 and married Nathan K. Goodwin on June 11, 1950 at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church. They lived their entire married life on a farm in the Red Oak Grove area. A homemaker, Cleone enjoyed genealogy and wrote eight books, including one about the stained glass windows at St. Olaf Lutheran Church where she was a member for a number of years. She was a Bethel Series teacher and Sunday School teacher. A 4-H project leader, she was active in extension club and politics. Cleone was currently a member of Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, Nathan Goodwin, rural Austin; two sons, Rodney Goodwin, Ames, Iowa, Jon (Patricia) Goodwin, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two daughters, Suzanne (Rick) Stephens, Los Angeles, Calif. and Nancy (Alan) Doucet, LaCrosse, Wis.; grandchildren, Chris (Laura) Goodwin, Ben (Heather) Goodwin, Laura (Jeremias) Sauceda, Kelly Goodwin, Michael Goodwin, Samantha (Brian) Delaney, Christine Doucet, Catherine Doucet and Patricia Doucet; great-grandchildren, Seth, Luke and Annika Sauceda and Zoe and Jackson Goodwin; two brothers, Ellsworth Ulland and Donald (Marlys) Ulland of Austin; two sisters, Carol (John) Cummings, Owatonna and Elaine (Jerry) Sievers, Portage, Mich.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Laverne and a nephew, Greg Cummings.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, rural Austin, with Rev. Gene Leiter officiating. Friends may call at Worlein Funeral Home from 4 – 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Interment is at Red Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Austin.
