Charles H. Dormady, 84
Charles H. Dormady, 84, of Austin died on July 23, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
He was born on Jan. 5, 1924 in Rapid City, S.D. to Howard C. Dormady and Doris Winifred Deeth. He received his high school diploma and served in the Army, where he received a Good Conduct medal, American Theatre Service Ribbon and Asiatic/Pacific Theater Service Ribbon. He married Mae Dean (Dade) Vesey.
Charles worked for the Geo. A. Hormel and Company for forty years. He enjoyed woodworking, bowling, playing cribbage, watching Western movies and reading Louis L’Amour books.
Survivors include his sons, Tom (Pam) Dormady, Michigan and Steve (Lynn) Dormady, New York; daughter, Pam Dormdy, New Hampshire; brothers, Bill Dormady, Washington and Dick (Diane) Dormady, Minneapolis, Minn.; sister, Sally (Marlin) Perdy, Minneapolis; special friend, Penny Kvam, Austin; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and sisters; daughter, Debbie and wife, Dade.
An informal remembrance for family and friends will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Crane Community Chapel in Austin with Pastor Mark Goossen officiating. Charlie donated his body to Mayo Medical Research. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army and the Crane Community Chapel Kid’s Camp.
