Betty L. Hoeper, 80
Betty Lorraine Hoeper, 80, of Austin died on Aug. 23, 2008 at her home with her family by her side after her battle with cancer.
She was born Feb. 2, 1928 in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., to Lloyd and Hazel (Frye) Fisher. As a small child Betty moved to Chisholm, Minn., and after several moves she landed in Austin where she graduated from Austin High School. She was married to Robert Hoeper on Oct. 5, 1946 and enjoyed 58 years of married life before Robert’s death in 2004. They resided in Austin and after retirement they moved to Arizona for ten years before returning to Austin.
Betty was a member of the Eagle’s Auxiliary and active with several other area organizations. She enjoyed several hobbies, including, bowling, crafts, watching game shows and shopping. She also enjoyed “restaurant food” and “putzing” around.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert and son, Terry.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Darla (Roger) Siefker, Tempe, Ariz.; grandchildren, Ryan Siefker and Michelle Mahenski, Mesa, Ariz., Carrie and Ryan Martin, Apache Junction, Ariz., Robyn and Jake Spruill, Flagstaff, Ariz., Tammy and Duane Smith, Austin, Michele “Missy” Hoeper and Jay Kisner, Austin; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ralph and Helen Hoeper, Albert Lea, Minn.; Margaret Hoeper, Austin; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008 at Fellowship United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dennis Tamke officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery in Austin. Friends may greet the family at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. The organist will be Marilyn Sabin, with flutist will be Ashley Smith Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
