Vonda Jacobsen, 75
Vonda Jacobsen, 75, of Dexter, Minn., died Monday (July 7, 2008) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Vonda Lee Ames was born May 18, 1933, the daughter of Laurence and Grace (Bell) Ames, in Austin. She married Owen A. Jacobsen on Oct. 29, 1969 in Sioux Falls, S.D. She owned and operated the Windrift Bar and Restaurant in Austin for seven years, and later managed the Austin Motel until 1993.
She enjoyed volunteering, being a senior companion, and being a hospice volunteer. She was nominated for the Jefferson Award for her work with seniors.
Vonda is survived by her children, Christian (Allison) Jacobsen, St. Paul, Minn., Maureen (Thomas) Starmack, Crystal Lake, Ill., Patrick (Holly) Young, Rockford, Mich., David Young, Rochester, Minn., and John (Pam) Young, Puerto Rico, and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen, parents, and a brother.
A graveside service will be held Friday (July 11, 2008) at 10:30 a.m. at Dexter Cemetery with the Rev. Stephan DeFor officiating. A reception will follow at the United Methodist Church in Dexter. Memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross or Mayo Hospice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield, Minn.
