Gary Bure

Gary Allen Bure, 64, of rural Albert Lea died on July 13, 2008 at his home, following a battle with cancer.
He was born on March 29, 1944, in Albert Lea, the son of Albert and Mavis (Thompson) Bure. His mother Mavis died when Gary was young, Aunt Lolly Olson helped until Albert remarried Joyce Thompson, who raised him.
Gary graduated from Rose Creek High School in 1962. Throughout his life he had lived in the Albert Lea, Rose Creek, Austin and Glenville areas. Gary was united in marriage to Marilyn Hertges in 1965. They were blessed with five children together. He later married Julene Manuel, who preceded him in death in 1998. He was united in marriage to Renee Majerus Handke in December of 2006.
Gary had worked at the creamery in Albert Lea, the Red Owl Warehouse and then at Wilson’s/Farmstead until the fire forced his retirement in 2001. He was a member of the Eagles and the Moose Clubs. Gary loved to fish, listen to country music, and spend time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Renee; children, Michael Bure, Albert Lea,
Michelle (Rick) Frechette, Waldorf, Minn., Leon Bure, Albert Lea, Damian (Danielle) Bure, Albert Lea, and Dominic (Annette) Bure, Waldorf; stepchildren, Wrey Frechette, Albert Lea, Kindra (Jim) Kostka, Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Kristina Handke (Josh Meyer), Clarks Grove, Jason (Candice) Handke, Austin; grandchildren, Jamie, Kyle, Dillon, Nicole, Tyler, Desmond, Ryleigh, Laynie, and Brielle and great-granddaughter Kira Ann; step-grandchildren, Demi Jo, Parker, Adam and Brittany; step-greatgrandson, Beau; brothers and sisters, Dick (Sue) Bure, Austin, Ron (Sue) Bure, Lakeville, Minn., Brenda (Steve) Martell, Austin, Steve Olson, Ellsworth, Wis., Cindy (Mike) Wadding, Austin and Randy (Kathy) Bure, Austin and many nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, wife Julene and stepmother Joyce Bure.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Albert Lea. The Reverend Wayne Halvorson and Vicar Luke Ulrich will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Friends may visit with family one hour before the service at the church.
